PowerHawke was hired to provide infrared viewing windows for the Main Switchgear at the Windsor, CT facility. Each cabinet received two IRISS VPT-75 windows, which are 3” round transparent windows. The windows were installed strategically for best viewing of the main connection points during future infrared surveys.

A Saturday shutdown was coordinated for safe installation of the windows in the rear cabinet doors of Switchgear 1 – 4. Extensive coordination was required by PowerHawke personnel with personnel from BBE, Northeast Utilities, and the building owner Newmark Grubb Knight Frank.

PowerHawke’s IRISS Certified Installer led our team in removing each panel cover, punching out the required 3” hole, and installing all fifty windows within an eight?hour period. Our Certified Installer was able to plan best placement of the windows to optimize view of the connections.
